Through our Hydrogel Facility, we will produce both bleached and unbleached cellulose microsheets (CMS) hydrogel. After pulping, the algae’s extracellular matrix is removed, leaving only the cellulosic components.
These cellulose particles, composed of cellulose nanofibrils (CNF), form a mat known as Cellulose Micro-Sheets (CMS), with a mean particle size of 64 micrometers and a width of 18 nanometers. The facility will produce nanocellulose hydrogel concentrations of up to 10%.
The CMS can then be further mechanically processed into CNF, with additional chemical
treatment yielding cellulose nanocrystals (CNC).
